Kaleidoscope Movie Magic – August 2019
Kaleidoscope group member Lisa Elin of ReelHappiness.com shares her Reel Happiness Cinema Therapy through a write-up called “Kaleidoscope Group Movie Magic.”
This month’s selection is … Bend It Like Beckham.
It’s a joyous tale of the dutiful daughter of orthodox Sikh parents, who rebels against their traditional ways and joins a soccer team.
Dir. Gurinder Chadha (also wrote). Perf. Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anupam Kher, Shaheen Khan, Amreet Chana, Archie Panjabi, Juliet Stevenson. 20th Century Fox, 2002.
As You Watch
- Notice all the various “rules” in play — culture, orientation, gender, organizational.
- What forces — persuasion, stands, a friend’s assist, willingness to reconcile, even lying— triggered expansion by relaxing such rules? Why did they work when/where they did?
- Notice when a rule is valued unto itself, and when it’s being used as cover for another, perhaps the real, reason (time for truth!).
Lisa generously provides a handout with watching suggestions (the above represents just a portion!) & guided journaling exercises created specifically for our Kaleidoscope group. Enjoy benefits & perks like this and more when you Scope It, Shift It, and Click It™, joining our colorful community as a private client!
Each month, we take a deep dive into the month’s colors and energy. I also share what you need to know based on your own personal color preferences.
Plus, we explore readings & affirmations for additional inspiration & loving support. Since we have 2 live calls each month, there’s plenty of open Q&A and group share time with me & our members.
