Every morning you are given a gift – the gift of a brand new day. Greet this gift with gratitude and watch in amazement the way the day unfolds, presenting gift after gift after gift.
During the holidays, we’re usually focused on giving – giving of our time, energy, and funds. Just as there is an art to giving the perfect gift, experience or opportunity, there is an art to receiving. As Bob Burg says, receiving is
the natural result of giving. Or, every giving can happen only because it is also a receiving.
Maybe this way of thinking about receiving hasn’t occurred to you before. Perhaps the very idea of receiving makes you uncomfortable! You may feel better about being on the giving side of things. Try thinking about receiving as allowing; allowing the thing that you desire to happen. Resisting is what keeps us from receiving all that we desire. Be willing to let go of resistance, then recognize and receive that which you desire by being in a state of abundance, gratitude and joy.
The art of receiving requires knowing what you want. What is it that you want for you, your family, your interior design business? Ask for and receive client feedback and testimonials, referrals, mentoring, guidance, motivation and inspiration. Give yourself permission to (or allow yourself to):
- Awaken to your magnificence
- Live an amazing life
- Do something extraordinary
- Identify your values, desires and long-term goals
- Decide what you’ll do to achieve your long-term vision
- Creatively visualize the desired outcome
- Take action towards your goals
“Like the air you breath, abundance in all things is available to you. Your life will simply be as good as you allow it to be.” – Abraham
The gift of the life and business you desire is available to you. Receive and allow it to be.
