Dare to Tell

As I shared recently, I quit business as usual and playing it safe. Easier said than done.

Something has been holding me back. Something has been making me hide out. F-E-A-R.

“Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Facing fear and taking action in spite of your fear is part of an entrepreneur’s journey. So I decided to face my biggest fear and share the rest of my story with you … and once I made that decision, I was presented with an opportunity to tell my story in a big way.

Enter the “Dare To Tell” Story Movement.

Lisa Bloom, the Story Coach, started the ‘Dare To Tell’ movement. She set out to interview 100 people and blog their stories every day. I don’t quite remember if I received an email about this movement, or saw it somewhere on Facebook, but something told me it was time. Something told me I needed to share my story because you or someone you know may have gone through something similar … or may be going through it now. Something told me to click on the link to join in this movement and tell Lisa my story, so I did.

As Erica Jong remarked, I have not ceased being fearful, but I have ceased to let fear control me.

Before Lisa published my story, she asked if I wanted it to be anonymous or if I’d like to include my name and website. Fear said “anonymous” while I nervously answered, “Add my name and website.” So here it is … the story I was dared to tell as captured and written by the Story Coach herself.

Fear says hit the publish button, turn off your phone & email, and crawl under the covers. I’m saying hit the publish button, and I welcome & encourage your comments.

Here’s to living a bold, inspired & creative life,

p.s. I shared all of this in my email newsletter a few weeks ago. It inspired the latest episodes of our “From Corporate to Creative” radio show. I share this with you now so you can read the story, listen to the episodes, face & overcome your fears. Whether you’ve been struggling with your fears 4 minutes, 4 days, 4 weeks, 4 months, 4 years (like me) or 44 years, you can move past them. I believe in you!
