Things I Love – Prospective Clients Who Qualify Themselves

While recently enjoying an exquisite fine dining experience, I found myself in the company of creative culinary artisans and creative marketing masters. Each element of the evening’s menu an offer so irresistible, so delectable, so attractive that we wanted them all! Of course, reason won out and we didn’t order them all, but we did deem items selected deliciously gratifying and immediately deliberated selections for our next visit.

Reads like a business model for success, doesn’t it? Make an irresistible offer, deliver, and have clients clamoring for more? As a creative professional, how can you use the same model in your creative business? A great place to start is by offering prospective clients something irresistible; something so beneficial and easy to get that they’ll raise their hands to get it, and qualify themselves as your ideal client.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Develop a free giveaway that appeals to your target market and ideal clients. Here are just a few ideas: Email newsletters, articles, special reports, white papers, audio recordings, videos, podcasts, teleclasses, webinars, and workshops.Tip: Share what you know, what you’re passionate about, and reflects who you are as a creative professional.
  • Include a call to action in your free giveaway. Invite prospective ideal clients to take the next step with you and let them know exactly how to do that. Here are a few ideas: Invite them to contact you, connect on social media, schedule a consultation, download an ebook, visit a special page on your website, or attend a course.Tip: Have processes and systems in place, automating where possible.
  • Offer your free giveaway wherever and whenever you encounter your target market and ideal client. Some ideas: Include your giveaway offer on your business card, direct mail pieces, website, blog, social media profiles, and ads. Mention it while networking with ideal clients or those who know your ideal clients.Tip: Partner with other companies (with the same target market and ideal client) offering add-on giveaways to further enhance your giveaway offer.
  • Be sure to capture contact information (at a minimum, first name and email address) for those requesting your giveaway, and ask for their permission to contact them in the future.Tip: Email marketing services like Constant Contact, Aweber, and AutoWebBusiness (1ShoppingCart) make it easy to collect and manage subscriber contact information.

Your ideal clients are out there. They have a need and are looking for the solutions you offer. Give them ways to find you, to get to know you, to learn about the solutions you provide and the services and products you offer. Give them ways to build a relationship with you and your creative business. Make an irresistible offer, deliver, then do it again. Watch your prospective clients become your ideal clients; ideal clients who retain you, recommend you and refer you to other ideal clients.
