With so many energies, projects and communities culminating, it felt only appropriate to call our theme for November, “The Collective.”

Theme: The Collective
The word ‘collective’ refers to a community, organization or group, be it social or some sort of cooperative gathering. We collect and gather together around mutual and shared interests, passions, causes, hobbies, goals and dreams. It’s also a way to describe a group and its members, or its shared interest, passions, causes, hobbies, goals and dreams.
We can refer to our collective wisdom, responsibilities, decisions, opinions, actions and memories. We realize with the number of people, groups, organizations, communities, interests, passions, causes, hobbies, goals, dreams and our equally varied wisdom, responsibilities, decisions, opinions, actions and memories, we have collectives within collectives within collectives!
What’s driving all of us and these collectives? Some pretty basic needs and drives — and while they may be basic, it doesn’t always mean they are met. (Needs like safety, security, shelter, love and acceptance; drives like creative expression, connection, contribution, learning, challenges, new experiences). While attention is often brought to what is so divisive and different between people, groups and communities, in November, let us focus on our commonalities. Let us focus on our collective needs and drives.
How might we:
- Collaborate to create safe places and spaces?
- Work together to ensure shelter for all in our communities?
- Seek to understand what security means to someone; what would make them feel more secure?
- Be more loving and accepting of others?
Where could creative expression benefit the collective? In what ways?
What opportunities exist to build and grow connections?
What contributions are needed?
Where are there opportunities to learn and share wisdom?
Where might a word of encouragement be needed?
What experiences might enrich the communities you gather with?
Who could you challenge to be a better person?
Who is challenging you? And how will it help you live a more vibrant life?
Color of the Month – Outgoing Orange
Our color of the month is Outgoing Orange. As the name suggests, this hue will help you openly engage with others and better understand collective needs and drives. Our word ‘outgoing’ will also guide you to consider what isn’t working, can be released or is best directed elsewhere.
This color can help refresh your perspectives, plus lend appreciation and gratitude for past and present efforts, as you evaluate opportunities to shift towards the collective good.
A Note About Colors Specified
Colors selected to represent the energy of each month and each week of the year are Sherwin Williams colors. Their architectural and design palette has been my go-to for years. You see the color above, along with the Sherwin Williams paint code plus the RGB and hex code equivalent values. This helps if you’d like to use these colors in your physical space, on your desktop or when focusing on The Collective.
