K9 Co-Workers: Working from Home with Your Dog

Lorena Patti copyInterview with Lorena Patti

This is a topic near & dear to my heart, and my guest is Lorena Patti, MS, CPDT-KA, who will be sharing lots of great tips for those of us working with canine companions!

A great advantage to having your own business from home is that if you have a dog, every day can be a “take your dog to work day”! Still, you need to make sure that you prepare your area, your dog, and yourself to make it work as best as possible. First, make sure you “know” your dog: is she a lounger, or does she enjoy the sport of bouncing off the walls? Know how to take your dog’s needs into consideration during your workday. Understand the importance of keeping your pooch occupied and mentally stimulated. Hear about some of the steps you can proactively take to making your best buddy into the best work companion you could have.
A fellow former corporate hostage, Lorena was a software developer and engineer for over 10 years before taking the leap to fulfilling her passion of working with dogs. She now owns Waggers Doggie Daycare & Training and has been a successful Canine Behavior Specialist in Orlando for over 7 years.
Hand selected by Victoria Stilwell, host of Animal Planet’s It’s Me or the Dog to join Victoria Stilwell Positively™ Dog Training, a global team of world-class positive reinforcement dog trainers, Lorena is accredited by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers®, a Professional Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and of the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis. She is an American Kennel Club-approved Canine Good Citizen/S.T.A.R. Puppy Evaluator and a facilitator for Doggone Safe’s® “Be a Tree” Program, teaching dog safety and bite prevention to schoolchildren.
She’s worked with dogs of all ages, from puppies to senior canine citizens, and helped their owners with all sorts of doggie behavioral aspects, from basic good manners training to fear and aggression issues. A staunch supporter of dog-friendly training, her training philosophy is that of using positive reinforcement and science-based behavioral approaches to modifying and managing the behavior of our canine family members.
Grab a cozy seat, snuggle up with your dog, and listen in.
