Kaleidoscope Movie Magic – February 2019
Kaleidoscope group member Lisa Elin of ReelHappiness.com shares her Reel Happiness Cinema Therapy through a write-up called “Kaleidoscope Group Movie Magic.”
This month’s selection is The Big Sick.
Comedian Kumail Nanjiani’s true story of falling for Emily against his family’s strict cultural tradition, and his struggle to navigate his own feelings and both families’ opinions after she falls suddenly and dangerously ill.
Directed by Michael Showalter. Perf. Kumail Nanjiani (also co-wrote), Zoe Kazan, Zenobia Shroff, Anupam Kher, Holly Hunter, Ray Romano. Lionsgate, 2017.
As You Watch
Click here to review our February forecast, then consider the following as you watch this month’s selection.
- Observe how Kumail pursues his freedom in the face of strict tradition by sometimes going along (relationship Kaleidoscope area) and other times pushing the boundaries (professional Kaleidoscope area).
- Watch how he remains always in his own driver’s seat despite sometimes intense pressure, by staying calm and respectful of another’s viewpoint—even when it could (or is actively trying to) knock him off balance. In this way he creates room for himself to focus at his own pace on what brings his freedom into being (sometimes quietly, other times in a flashpoint).

Each month, we take a deep dive into the month’s colors and energy. I also share what you need to know based on your own personal color preferences.
Plus, we explore Angel messages & affirmations for additional inspiration & loving support. Since we have 2 live calls each month, there’s plenty of open Q&A and group share time with me & our members.
