3 Obstacles Between You and Your Business Breakthrough

The word ‘breakthrough’ is so alive with meaning. As creatives in business, we long to experience and savor the delicious sensation of breaking through to the next level, newest discovery or business innovation.

What are we usually attempting to create breakthroughs around? Here’s a clue: Ask anyone you know the two things they wish they had more of. Half will come back time & money and the other half will come back money & time! If there are two things most everyone feels are creating shortcomings in their professional and personal lives today, time & money are at the top of every list.

Whether it’s finding the time to follow up with your clients, giving them the attention they deserve or simply being in a position to secure the help you need to create more time, nothing seems to exhaust itself more rapidly in today’s fast-paced business world than time & money, especially when you’re just starting out. And unless it’s something you remain vigilant over, the mismanagement of these two things will keep you at a disadvantage through the entirety of your business’ existence.

For all of us trying to lock down a firm control of our time & money, the interesting part is we all know we need to address this, we’ve collected tips to create more of this, yet at the end of each year, month, week or day we’re often left feeling we’ve failed to create enough time or money to satisfy our objectives. We often find ourselves ending a long day out of sheer exhaustion rather than in joyful fulfillment.

So what gets in the way? What obstacles do we encounter  as we attempt to move towards a breakthrough? And more importantly, how can we avoid them?

Here are 3 of the most common obstacles creative entrepreneurs and business owners come up against:

  1. Indecision.
You must decide to act, then act. Sounds simple, right? Yet so many of us let fear hold us back from decisions we need to make. Stop hoping or trying and start doing. Decide to act, then act.
  2. Mindset.
What thoughts and beliefs are dictating who you are as an individual and as a creative entrepreneur? What thoughts and beliefs are commanding your actions? Reconnect with your passion and purpose, get clear on your vision and decide who you will be. For example, decide to be a creative entrepreneur who is making 6 figures, enjoys holidays and 4 weeks vacation. Decide to be a creative entrepreneur who is your definition of success. Be a motivated person, a person of action, be confident, be disciplined, be tenacious, be okay with failure and changing course, taking action again and again. Be willing to do whatever it takes. Decide who you’ll be and be that person.
  • Lack of support.
It’s important to have a support system in place, whether it’s your spouse, family and friends, team, or a combination of all. Many times it will be a mastermind group, a mentor or coach, an accountability partner. Surround yourself with people who will help you get to where you want to go.

Make up your mindset. Decide and take inspired action. Get help and be supported. Start creating your business breakthrough!

Here’s to living an inspired & creative life,
